Russian charter operators are keen to operate Goa flights by Dec.

Panaji, November 23rd : , Russian charter operators are looking to land slots at Goa’s Dabolim International Airport ahead of New Year celebrations, Gagan Malik, the airport director, said Tuesday.
We received a request from Russia for slots.

Their first flight was announced on December 30, they said.Malik stated that they have requested nine flights.

This is the third request for charters in this season.They are currently asking for nine slots.

They may be able to increase this depending on how things are going.The office will operate twice per week: Thursday and Saturday.He also stated that things are getting better for the moment.

Around 900 charter flight from Russia, UK, and Germany each year found their way to Goa just before the Covid pandemic, which closed down international travel.

The majority of international tourists who arrive in Goa via charter flights are from abroad.In 2019, nearly half a million tourists from abroad arrived in Goa.

Malik said that international charter companies have slowly begun to emerge after the Central government permitted the landing at Goa’s sole airport starting November 15.

Further, the official stated that slots have been approved by the Airports Authority of India for the two additional charter companies, Air Astana and SCAT.
