Romanian Prez nominates Defence Minister as PM

Bucharest : Nicolae Ciuca, Romanias Defence Minister has been nominated by Klaus Iohannis to be the Prime Minister of a new government.

Iohannis released a statement Monday stating that the majority had proposed naming Prime Minister.I agreed to it.Earlier, the National Liberal Party, Social Democratic Party and Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), reached an agreement for a coalition government.This agreement enjoys support from the 18 members of minorities.

The Constitution of the country gives the Prime Minister-designate 10 days to form the government of the country and to get a confidence vote in Parliament.Ciuca should win this easily, as his coalition controls 65 percent of the seats.

Leaders of all three parties in the coalition said that Romania will have a new Cabinet by Thursday.Ciuca (54 years old) was the first candidate to be nominated for the post of Prime Minister.
