Mumbai, Dec 7 : Actor Rohit Purohit has been roped in to play the character of Dr Vikrant Saxena in the new show ‘Dhadkan Zindagii Kii’.
He talks about his character, the show, how donning the doctor’s coat was difficult for him and why the show will change the perception of viewers towards women in the workplace.
Rohit is returning to TV after 2 years, so what made him say ‘yes’ to the role of Dr Vikrant Saxena.
“Yes, I am coming back to TV after two years.The pandemic that made everyone stay home was the biggest.I was getting offers, but nothing seemed to grab my attention.The show’s story, script and concept are so unique and interesting that I believe that is the main reason.”
Dr Vikrant Saxena is a complex character, but Rohit believes that this character can be found amongst us.
He said: “Before I did this, I had mostly done historical characters that can be found in history, and it was a great experience.This character is totally different.It’s a character that we can all identify with, those of us who live in this society.It’s a complex character and viewers will learn more about it when the show premieres.It’s about a surgeon, his personal life, and this motivated me to take on this project.”
” I hope people like the character because it’s realistic.You can find historical references in history books when portraying historical characters.Every episode of this show will be different.
He says that nobody knows much about Vikrant so each episode, scene after scene, people will learn more about him.He also shares his thoughts about the preparations for playing the role of a doctor on-screen.”Just being a doctor was difficult because medical terminology are a nightmare.Being a surgeon was harder than being a doctor.I was familiar with the show.There was no preparation.
I just showed up on set and delivered.Second, I have so much experience from working over so many years that I was able to put myself into the role slowly.But, I had to learn a lot to make the character more natural and realistic according to the show’s format.”
Rohit believes that there are many misconceptions about women being surgeons or choosing a career in a male-dominated field.And this show will change that perception.
He shares: “Oh yes, after watching ‘Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii’ people’s perception will change.It’s not easy for women to work in a world where men are the majority.I have worked for so many years.
It is hard for them to create their own space.Things that people should learn like how women and girls should be treated in the workplace, this show will teach them that.
