RIL subsidiary to acquire franchise in ECB UAE T20 League

Dubai, Nov 24, : Reliance Industries Limited through its subsidiary Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Ltd will acquire the rights to own and manage a franchise cricket team in the Emirates Cricket Board’s upcoming UAE T20 League.

This was announced by the organisers on WednesdayThis is the first overseas expansion of Reliance Industries cricket operations in global franchise-based cricket leagues.

The companys cricket business will now include 2 cricket clubs, in addition to other cricket related initiatives such as sponsorship, consultancy, and talent management.Notaly, RIL is also one of the eight founding members for the Indian Premier League (IPL) through Mumbai Indians.

The UAEs T20 League will benefit from the company’s commercial and cricket knowledge.This deal promises a new and exciting brand for cricket for the Emiratis as well as the best learnings and entertainment.

Khalid Al Zarooni, chairman of UAE T20 League and vice chairman ECB, feels that RILs investment in UAE T20 League demonstrates confidence in UAEs corporate sector and its ability to deliver a world-class cricketing event "We want to transform cricket in the UAE by establishing the UAE T20 League.RIL has the history of establishing the most successful franchise cricket team.

Zarooni stated in a release that RILs association with the League shows the confidence in our system as well as the strength of our infrastructure to deliver world-class events." The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians have been the most consistent cricket team for the past ten years, winning seven titles.

It will feature some of the most prominent names in cricket worldwide and provide exposure for upcoming cricketers.The League will initially feature six franchise teams competing in a 34-match event.

RIL is now aboard the UAE T20 League.This is just one of many important announcements that will be made about the League in the coming days.
