Rani Mukerji, a veteran of the industry for more than 25 years, spoke about how Bollywood’s definition of “heroine,” has changed over time.

Rani, who has always charmed audiences with her powerful performances, said that actresses are always showcased in a “dynamic way” and that films “portray females in the way society sees them”.

Rani, who has impressed critics and audiences alike with her impressive skills in movies like ‘Hey Ram’ and ’Sathiya’, Black’ and ‘Mardaani’, among others, stated that a heroine was always a quintessential Hindi movie heroine.I don’t think that anything has changed.

“If you look at the graph of film actresses in the ’40s and ’50s, you’ll see that Indian women were always depicted in a very dynamic manner.except for a few because your film must reflect the society as it is.” If you have seen the rise in India, then you have seen the growth of the films in all characters and stories.

Rani said, “Things are changing with the times so films portray women the way society sees them. The way they are now and with each year that passes, that’s what’s happened and shown in movies.”

Rani, a veteran of the industry for more than two decades, doesn’t “feel” it.

“When someone says 25 years, I say “oh really!” Because it doesn’t feel like 25 years to me.It seems like time has flown by, I feel.I can still recall my first day on the film, my ‘Ghulam’ days, and my ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai days.

She said, “So, it’s really insane that somebody says 25 year.I say, ‘don’t say na 25, years’ it’s making me feel like i am here forever’.”

Rani, who is married Aditya Chopra, the head honcho at Yash Raj Films, has a daughter called Adira. She has played the role of Babli/Vimmy again in the latest release, ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2″.

Is there any pressure on her to be better every time she appears on screen?

Pat replied, “Absolutely.”

Rani believes that this is the best part of it.

“That’s how I feel about my craft, because I work in films that challenge me as an artist. This is what makes me excited to go back to set and try to deliver something that I don’t believe I can do until I reach the set. There is always that excitement you feel.
