Rains continue to lash Tamil Nadu. NDRF on alert

Chennai, Nov 28, : On Sunday, heavy rains continued to fall in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, and adjacent districts.This led to waterlogging and inundation in many areas of the state.
Many areas of Chennai, including T Nagar, Ashok Nagar, and Pammal, saw heavy rains until 1 p.m., while other areas experienced moderate rains.

The city’s water levels have also reached the optimal level.

People are anticipating that this will lead to an increase in groundwater recharge.

After heavy rains, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai and Ranipet are on high alert.

Most of the water bodies in these areas are at their maximum capacity.

The majority of the 1886 water bodies in Tiruvannamalai including the 600 PWD-maintained irrigation tanks are at or near full capacity.

In the Vellore, Ranipet and Tirupattur district of the state, there is a complete ban on crossing Palar river, check dams and low-level bridges.

K.K.S.S.R Ramachandran, the state Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, said that the department was monitoring the situation and that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), is on standby for any emergency.The situation is under control and the Revenue Department and Disaster Management Department are monitoring it in coordination with Fire and Rescue, Health, and Police Departments.
