San Francisco, December 8, 2008 : Qualcomm announced that its latest premium 5G mobile platform Snapdragon8 Gen1 SoC was manufactured in Samsung’s 4nm Foundries.However, a new report claims that production issues are forcing Qualcomm (TSMC) to shift some of the production to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. According to industry sources Qualcomm is unhappy with Samsung’s yields.It is not capable of producing all the chipsets it needs so TSMC will likely take control, reports GSMArena.
TSMC is a well-known semiconductor company and chips made there may outperform those made in Samsung.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 features cutting-edge 5G and AI technologies, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and gaming capabilities.
It will be adopted worldwide by brands and OEMs, with commercial devices expected before the end of 2021.
The new Snapdragon 8 comes equipped with the 4th gen Snapdragon X655G Modem-RF system.
It is the most advanced 5G mobile platform, and the first 5G modem/RF solution to reach 10 Gigabit download speeds.
Snapdragon 8 includes the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 Mobile Connectivity system supporting up to 3.6 Gbps Wi-Fi speeds over Wi-Fi 6E and 6E.This allows apps and games to run smoothly even when connected to multiple devices.
This premium mobile platform will elevate smartphone photography beyond the pros.
