Python caught in wire fencing, rescued from Air Force Station Agra

Agra, Nov 26th : .A six-foot-long Indian Rock Python was discovered entangled in razor wire fencing at the boundary wall of the Air Force Station in Agra.
The snake was successfully rescued and is currently being monitored by medical staff.

Wildlife SOS’s 24-hour helpline received a call late Thursday night about a python at the Air Force Station.

The large snake was found inextricably bound in razor wire fencing near the Arjun Nagar Gate by security officers who were patrolling the base.The officers reported the incident immediately to Wildlife SOS, as they were concerned for its safety.

The rescue team took nearly an hour to extricate the python.It is currently being treated and monitored by medical personnel.

Kartick Satyanarayan (Co-founder of Wildlife SOS) said that “Handling snakes can prove difficult, especially when they get trapped or stuck in such dangerous situations.” We are grateful that the Air Force officials reported the incident to us.They acted quickly to save the life of the python.”

Baiju Raj M.V., Director, Conservation Projects at Wildlife SOS, stated that “sharp blades on razor wires meant that our team had to ensure their safety during rescue operations.” Our team has successfully relocated many animals from the Air Force Station premises that were in distress over the years.

Wildlife SOS’s rapid response unit also saved a three-foot Monitor lizard, which was trapped in a Kalindi Vihar, Agra, house.

Later, the lizard was safely released into its natural habitat.
