Prayagraj : , Nov 26 : .After the Manduadih railway stations in Varanasi it is now the Prayagraj station that will receive a world-class upgrade. Three additional railway stations in the North Central Railway (NCR), Uttar Pradesh zone, including Kanpur Central, and Agra Cantt, will be renovated soon.
Shivam Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), NCR, stated that earlier, the work of rehabilitating railway stations had been entrusted by the Indian Railway Development Corporation, which was disbanded a few months ago.The revamp work would take place in the respective zones where Prayagraj Central and Kanpur Central are located.It would be done under Prayagraj Division of NCR, Agra Central under Agra division, and Gwalior Junction underneath Jhansi division.
He said that the renovation at Prayagraj, which would offer airport-like facilities is expected to cost approximately Rs 400 crore.
Although the plan to make Prayagraj junction a world-class station was originally conceived in 2018, it was not realized due to the Kumbh Mela in 2019 or the pandemic.
The revamp plan will see work taken on by the Railways on both sides of the Junction — City side, Civil Lines side.
This multi-storey building will provide accommodation, food, and essential item shopping under one roof.
