Lisbon, Nov 26 : , Antonio Costa, the Portuguese Prime Minister, stated that Portugal will be returning to “state of calamity” on December 1, with strengthened measures to stop further Covid-19 transmission.
Thursday’s Council of Ministers decision made it mandatory that all closed spaces be equipped with face masks.

According to Xinhua news agency, the digital Covid-19 vaccination certificate will be required for access to restaurants and bars, clubs, sporting events, and gyms.

No matter how vaccinated they may be, those who wish to enter retirement homes or health facilities or to attend major sporting or cultural events will need to submit a negative test.

Costa stated that the “first step” is to reinforce the vaccination campaign with the booster dose.

Costa stated that “the government has obtained in time the required amount of vaccine doses for each Portuguese,” and that the country is “prepared” to vaccinate eligible children.

All passengers flying into Portugal will have to pass a negative test.In the event of non-compliance, airlines will face stiffer sanctions with fines of 20,000 Euros ($22,400 per passenger).

Portugal has reported 1,133.241 coronavirus infections and 18,385 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.
