Mumbai, Nov 23 : Veteran actress-turned-politician Poonam Dhillon who is playing a pivotal role in the upcoming web series ‘Dil Bekaraar’, says she is a passionate actor and joined politics only to contribute to society to see a positive change. In 2004, the actress was a member of Bhartiya Janta Party.
She was then appointed vice-president for the Mumbai unit in 2019.
Poonam answered IANS when asked if she felt that politics had kept her from performing.
Because I don’t feel dissatisfied, even though I was busy as a politician, acting was still something I enjoyed.
I joined politics because of the desire to see society change.
Because there are very few causes close to me, I did a lot social activities.I also know that I can make a difference in many people’s lives through social work.
I realized that I wanted to make a bigger impact on the world and joined politics.
But I believe politics is an exhausting occupation, which requires both passion and aggression.
Although I’m a kind and compassionate person, I don’t know if that makes me aggressive.However, I am very interested in social work to benefit humanity.Acting is my eternal love.
In her early days Miss India 1977 was well-known for being a fine performer in movies like Noorie’ and Red Rose’.
However, she also collaborated closely with NGOs to raise awareness about social issues like drug awareness, AIDS awareness, and organ donation.
The adaptation of Anuja Chanhan’s book ‘Those Pricey Thakur Girls,’ ‘Dil Bekaraar’ is the basis for the show.
Raj Babbar and Anjali Anand are among the other stars.
Poonam spoke about the character of Mamta Thakur.She is the Lady of the House and her children are all going to work trying to make an impact.They return home to their mothers when they get back.
The trailer shows that it’s a family story with a touch of 1980s charm.Apart from that, it’s a chance to see two of my co stars Raj Babbar as well as Padmini Kolhapure.
