New Delhi, Aug 7 : On the day of National Handloom Day on Sunday the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to India’s rich diversity of culture and all those who work to celebrate India’s art and culture.
In a tweet in a tweet, Prime Minister Modi declared: “On National Handloom Day as a celebration of the richness of India’s culture and all those who are working to celebrate our rich artistic traditions.”

In a tweet that also quoted Union Textile Minister Piyush Goyal, Modi said: “An ideal opportunity to think and develop new ideas for weavers.We are urging all the youngsters involved with the world of startups to participate.”

Sharing the link to submit an application for the Handloom Startup Grand Challenge, Goyal tweeted: “Handloom Startup Grand Challenge.A great opportunity to come up with cost-effective ways to develop technologically advanced handlooms to create higher quality products with less effort for our handloom weaver.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted crowd on National Handloom Day.

In a string of tweets, Shah said: “India’s Handloom industry represents our diverse and rich cultural heritage.In 2015 the Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared August 7 as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the Swadeshi movement that started in 1905 on the exact day , and to revive this old Indian art.

“It is intended to also encourage our fellow citizens to make use of handloom products made by local weavers.On this, the 8th National Handloom Day, let us all join forces to strengthen the Modi government’s commitment to protect and celebrate our handloom heritage, and to empower handloom weaver particularly women.”
