He also promised that the guarantees would be applied on priority when AAP is formed in 2022.

He also asked teachers to get involved in the AAP campaign to make Delhi’s state-run schools more like Delhi.

These eight guarantees are: creating an environment similar to Delhi in Punjab’s education sector, regularising outsourcing and contract teachers, implementing transparent transfer policies, banning teachers from non-teaching work, and permanent recruiting for vacant positions.

Kejriwal and Bhagwant, the AAP’s state president was here to interact with media.

Jarnail Singh, the party’s Punjab In-charge and Raghav Chadha, were present as well.

The Delhi Chief Minister recognized the critical role of teachers and education in society’s development.

He gave his first assurance to ensure a good environment for teaching and learning.

According to him, Punjab would have a similar environment as Delhi in terms of education.

This would allow for a higher standard education.

Kejriwal, through the second guarantee, promised all kinds of contract, outsourced, and raw teachers.

Kejriwal stated that most teachers from Punjab are working at Rs 10,000 per month over the past 18 years. This is absurd and unfair for a teacher.

Kejriwal appealed to Charanjit Singh Channi his Punjabi counterpart, saying that the two demands made by the protesting teachers — filling the vacant positions and making the contract teachers permanent — must be accepted immediately.

He said, “If the Channi government doesn’t do this, then I will visit the teachers’ dharna during my next trip to Punjab and will meet the demands of teachers on the formation the AAP government.”

He offered a third guarantee that he would change the teacher transfer policy to save teachers from having to move.He stated that Punjab had forced a teacher from Punjab to teach at two schools, each 200km apart.

Changes in the policy for teacher transfer to Punjab are expected along with Delhi. The policy regarding teachers being able to choose their teaching location and be posted close home, will also be transparently implemented.
