By Chetan Sharma New Delhi, Aug 22 : All-rounder Shivam Dube on Monday said that playing under former India captain M.S.Dhoni during the time of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022 was an excellent learning experience that helped him in becoming a better cricketer.
In the IPL mega auction in February, Dube was bought by the Super Kings for Rs 4 crore.
The 29-year-old cricketer played an inconsistent time in the event.He played some match-winning bowls for CSK but was criticized for his bowling skills that were not up to scratch.
In an interview with IANS the all-rounder revealed that his main aim is to be a part of the Indian cricket team once more and win matches for the country.
Excerpt of the interview:
Q: How have your training and your practice been?
A: Training is going well training every day, and enhancing my abilities for the forthcoming season.
Q: CSK had an off-season , and was not able to make it to the playoffs in IPL 2022.But how will you judge the performance of your team?
A: There’s good and bad times, and IPL 2022 wasn’t a great year for us.We did our best to qualify , but we did not get there.There are plenty of positives and negatives in this game.I was able to perform well with the bat, but was unable to achieve good results with the ball.I’m certain that I could have performed better.
Q: What did you feel about your experience of playing with or under M.S Dhoni? And how did you learn from him?
A playing under M.S.Dhoni was a fantastic learning experience.He is an example and mentor to the whole team.Being able to play with him was a huge help to me and I noticed my performance getting better.
Q What did you do in IPL 2022, you faced plenty of criticisms about your bowling.Did you have enough time to improve this portion of the game? If yes, what are the are the new things.you have added to your arsenal?
A: Every time I am on the field I try to do my best, but sometimes, it’s not the day for you.There have been occasions when I’ve performed extremely excellent with the bat, but haven’t performed well in bowling.As I mentioned earlier, I’m practicing every day and I cannot eagerly show my abilities in the coming season.
Q: There are many fast-bowling, all-rounders in India.That’s why, naturally, you could make an impact in the Indian setup.What are your thoughts on that?
A My ultimate aim is to be a part of the Indian cricket team once more and to win games for my nation.I train every day, adhering to an extremely strict diet and working to improve.I am getting ready for the season ahead and am planning to give a mind-blowing performance.Let’s take a look at how this goes.
Q: You recently became connected with an upcoming sports agency called FairPlay Sports’.Do you think it’s important to be part of an management company to ensure that things are balanced in the best way for athletes?
A Yes, you’ll need to have a sports management company for professional athlete.It’s a lot of work to handle two things at the same time.I am happy that I was able to be a part of the team with FairPlay Sports.It is a renowned business and is connected with several of the top athletes in Indian sports, along with vast experience in the business as a professional.So, it has to be theirs.
