“Perth’s chances to host fifth Ashes Test are subject to WA Govt exemptions”

Perth, November 27, : .

Christina Matthews, chief executive of Western Australia Cricket, has stated that Perth hosts the fifth and final Ashes test, which will be held from January 14.

She also said that Perths chances are 50-50.However, much will depend on the WA governments exemptions on border controlFive days after the conclusion of the fourth Test at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), the final Test against Joe Root-led England will be played.

However, due to strict border controls and mandatory quarantine rules in WA due the Covid-19 pandemic it is difficult for Perth to host the final Test.Unless, of course, exceptions are made for the cricket party.

Christina Matthews said on Saturday that it was a matter of "whether cricket can meet those requirements or not." "Its possible that Cricket Australia (CA), has been a bit distracted over this past week. There is still a lot to be done in getting the Test here "One of the problems for cricket is the high level technology required around the broadcast and the large number of people needed around it." Its one thing to get the players in, but its quite another to get the broadcasters. She stated that WA Cricket was forced to wait for the governments relaxation of quarantine norms.
