Parl panel not satisfied by Facebook’s answers. To summon officials again

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information and Technology has not yet been satisfied with Facebook Indias answers in relation to citizens rights and has decided that it will call Facebook representatives againSources claim that the Parliamentary panel discussed allegations made against Facebook by a whistleblower at a Monday meeting.

Facebook officials denied the allegations of the whistleblower and said there was no truth to them.Sources claim that the committee also asked Facebook representatives what mechanism they use to identify hate speech and unparliamentary expressions, given Indias many languages and what software they use.The meeting also included a discussion about calling Sophie Zhang, a whistleblower, before the committee.Zhang has filed a dossier to the parliamentary panel, accusing the social media giant of biases and lack of regulation.

She also made serious allegations about Facebook regarding the Delhi Assembly elections.The Speaker of Lok Sabha will make the final decision.
