Tbilisi (Georgia), Nov 28, : Paramjeet K Kumar became the first Indian parapowerlifter to win a medal at the World Para Powerlifting Championships held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on Sunday. Paramjeet, who was competing in the 49kg category, lifted an impressive 158 kg to win the Bronze medal.
Omar Shami Qarada, from Egypt, won the gold medal after lifting an impressive 174kg.Van Cong Le of Viatnam won the silver medal after he lifted 170kg.

“Parmjeet Kumar wins 1st Medal (BRONZE), in the men’s up-to 49kg category at the ongoing World Para-Powerlifting C’ships 2020 Parmjeet’s winning lift was 158kg.Many congratulations,” SAI Media tweeted.
Parmjeet won a bronze medal in 49kg at the 2018 Asian Para Games, Indonesia.Parmjeet is a resident in Haripur Khalsa village (22 km from Ludhiana), Punjab.
A ten-member Indian Parapowerlifting team, including Sakina Khatun (41.5 kg Karnataka), Manreet Singh (44.1 kg Punjab), Raj Kumari (55.5 kg Delhi), Geeta (66.7 kg Haryana), Geeta (86.6 kg Rajasthan), and Geeta (67 kg Haryana), are competing in the women’s category.Parmjit Kumar (49kg, Punjab), Ashok (65kg, Haryana), Jai Deep (73.3 kg Haryana), Sudhir (88kg, Uttar Pradesh) and Sachin Chaudhary (1107 kg, Uttar Pradesh) are participating in the men’s’ng in the men’s).
