SEZs will unlock the economic potential of Pakistan’s KP province

Islamabad : Nov 29 : Authorities in Pakistans northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (KP) are determined to tap into the provinces economic potential through the development special economic zones (SEZs), said chief executive officer (CEO), of the KP Economic Zones Development and Management Company, (KPEZDMC).

According to Xinhua news agency, the province now has five economic zones, including the Rashakai SEZ, which is being built under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.He stated that work on other SEZs is still in progress in other parts of the province.

The KPEZDMC also mobilized investment of 165 billion Pakistani Rupees (about $934 Million) through new and established economic zones.Since March 2020, 357.61 acres have been allotted to investors.He said, "The company is committed providing world-class industrial infrastructure" and facilitating investors through its industrial facilitation office.

He stated that the company was working on specific industries in the economic zones with a special emphasis on minerals, jewels and marbles, as well as fruits and vegetables.He said that the economic zones are located adjacent to districts that produce fruits and vegetables.
