Minister took action after a viral video of a train driver buying yoghurt at a shop was shared on social media.

The video clip provoked criticism from the railways department, which has been having trouble lately due to passenger safety, accidents and declining revenue.

The minister took action and ordered Pakistan Railways Lahore to suspend Rana Mohammad Shehzad, the report stated.

Minister warned that he would not tolerate such events and would not allow anyone to use national assets for their personal use in the future.

The report stated that earlier in December, Pakistan Railways had banned the use of mobile phones while on a journey by assistants and locomotive drivers.

They were also forbidden from taking selfies or recording audio messages on their phones in all trains (passenger or goods).

Respective divisional heads were also instructed to monitor train crew members (especially drivers and their assistants) in order to take prompt action if anyone is flouting the orders.
