Pak Opposition vows long march on Pakistan Day

New Delhi, Dec 8, 2008 : The eight-party opposition alliance rejected the governments criticisms of the Pakistan Democratic Movements (PDM) decision not to hold a long march to mark the Pakistan Day.Dawn reported that the alliance vowed to reach Islamabad by March 23rd and warned the authorities against any attempt at using force to stop the marchers entering the federal capital.

"So far, we have decided that Islamabad is our destination.

After reaching the capital, the leadership will decide the duration of the stay," Hafiz Hamdullah, spokesperson for PDM, said at a press conference following a meeting of its steering committee on Tuesday.Hamdullah responded to a question regarding the location of the protest march.

He claimed that millions from all over the country would join the long march against price rise and transform the twin cities into D-Chowk.This is the same place where the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had held a 126-day sit-in in opposition in 2014.
