Pak Islamic scholar against court order to demolish Karachi mosque

New Delhi, December 30, : A prominent Pakistani Islamic scholar, Darul Uloom Karachi head Mufti Taqi Usmani, has taken to Twitter against an order by the court to destroy Madina Masjid at Karachis Tariq Road.

Samaa TV reportedOn Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered demolition of several buildings built on Karachis encroached land.

A court determined that the mosque was built on land allocated for a park.In a tweet, Usmani stated that the decision to destroy the mosque and create a park was "absolutely not justified".

According to the report, the mosque located on Tarid Road was constructed 25 years ago.It has been in use by worshipers ever since.According to the religious scholar, it was unimaginable that such a mosque would be condemned without hearing from the residents of the area.

He said that the court should immediately review the matter.Usmani was a pioneer in the development of Islamic banking in Pakistan.

He served as a Federal Shariat Court judge from 1981 to 1982.Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Sindh Secretary General Rashid Mahmood Soomro warned Pakistan Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Sindh Province Chief Minister Murad Al Ali Shah about the dire consequences.

Friday Times also reported that Soomro said the party would not allow the execution of the court order to destroy the Karachi mosque.Soomro uploaded a Twitter video, which quickly went viral, and challenged the authorities to demolish the mosque.
