New Delhi, Nov 27, : Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of Science and Technology, stated that while Pakistani drones can spread terror and threaten lives, Indian drones are carrying life-saving vaccines and medicines to ensure the safety and well-being for all.Minister said that this is the main difference between the two countries.
Singh referred to the 50 first Covid vaccine vials dropped by a drone in Marh.He said that the ‘Octacopter drone’ was an indigenously developed drone at Bengaluru.Pakistan is using drones for peace disruption.
He said that the Indian drone had conveyed to the International Border the message of protecting people from Covid.
Singh, Rajeev Bhatnagar, Advisor (Health), to the Lieutenant Governor, Jammu & Kashmir, officially handed over the first shipment of Covid vaccine doses for the drone operators.The drone then took off on its flight.
Singh stated that the Modi government’s commitment to healthcare in remote areas is evident by the successful aerial delivery of vaccine doses (CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu) to the Government Sub-District Hospital in Marh.
Jammu to Marh is approximately 15 km.It takes between 50 and 60 minutes to travel the distance.However, the Octacopter delivered vaccine doses in 20 minutes.
The CSIR National Aerospace Laboratories and CSIR IIIM have teamed up to deliver Covid-19 vaccine doses by air in remote areas.
Singh stated that Octacopter delivery of Covid vaccine vials will help fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign for special house to house Covid-19 vaccination drives.
Minister said that Octacopter can carry 10 kg of payload and can fly at 500m AGL, with a maximum speed of 36 kmph, and can fly at an operational altitude at 500 meters AGL.
