New Delhi, Aug 6 : More than 800 data layers of various Central Departments and Ministries have been uploaded to the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.The government launched the PM Gati Shakti in October 2021 to facilitate the creation of multimodal connectivity infrastructures to diverse Economic Zones.
PM GatiShakti NMP is a technology enabled GIS platform that can support data-based decision-making to support coordinated planning, synchronised implementation and monitoring of projects.”Since October 2021, over 900 data layers of relevant Central Ministries and Departments have been uploaded to the NMP.Individual portals with the necessary data layers, custom tools and functions for all involved Central Ministries and sState governments have been created,” said the ministry.
Recently the Ministry stated it was a fact that PM Gati Shakti is not a scheme, and therefore there are no funds allocated under it.However the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure has released the guidelines for the “Scheme of Special Assistance to States to Capital Investment for 2022-23” on April 6, 2022.Part II of the Scheme aims to facilitate the PM Gati Shakti-related investments in the United States.
A sum of 5 crore rupees is set aside for Part II of the Scheme.States have been educated regarding the regulations and are in the process of following up with the conditions required to avail the scheme’s funds The ministry added.
At at present 23 Ministries and Departments in the Centre comprise of the PM Gati Shakti.These include some of the most prominent ones such as the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Ministry of Power and many more.
The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan calls for the creation of an platform with all infrastructure projects related to different Ministries being incorporated into an integrated database to ensure efficient planning and execution in real-time.
The uploading of the data (geo-coordinates of projects) by Ministries on the National Master Plan portal is designed to reduce the duplication of efforts and encourage the adoption of integrated designing of projects as well as their synchronised execution.
