Around 200,000 Sri Lankans are leaving to work in foreign countries in 2022.

Colombo 12th September : Sri Lankas Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara has said that more than 200 000 Sri Lankans have gone to work in foreign countries in 2022 to dateHe claimed that those are individuals who have been registered with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and others may have left the country without registering.

The minister stated that remittances of expatriate workers in Sri Lanka reached $325 million in August, which is an increase of 16.4 percent when compared to July.Around 330,000 people are likely to quit Sri Lanka for foreign jobs at the end of this year, according to the minister.

The minister expressed his gratitude to the people who have transferred money to banks in a time when the country is experiencing an exchange shortage.int/sh.
