SC rejects students’ appeal against the ‘Opinion Of Jesus Christ’ for claiming error in Hindi translation of Physics Question

New Delhi, Nov 30, : .The Supreme Court was informed Tuesday by the Centre that a three member expert committee consisting of professors from IIT, Delhi Technological University and the National Physics Laboratory was established by National Testing Agency (NTA) and concluded that there was no error with a Hindi physics question in the NEETUG 2021.
Justice D.Y.headed the bench.Chandrachud dismissed a petition by 22 NEETUG candidates seeking recalculation for their scores due to an alleged error in a Hindi physics question.

Students’ counsel argued before the bench that the court must look at the physics textbook before deciding on their petition.The bench, which also included Justices A.S.Bopanna, Vikram Nath and Vikram Nath made a comment that the book could be considered the Bible for students but the opinion expressed by the professors was like the opinion of Jesus Christ.The bench stated, “We must accept the opinion.”

The bench noted that three independent experts had opined that the answer to the Physics question in Hindi and English was the same.

The Supreme Court ordered the Centre to form a committee consisting of three experts to review the correctness and validity of a Hindi physics question in the NEETUG 2021 exam.

Justice D.Y.sat on the bench during the hearing.Chandrachud said: “We don’t want to fail in Physics, because we don’t know anything about it.”

The bench stated that it would be better if the Hindi physics question was examined by experts who can understand Hindi and English.The petitioners claimed that there was a discrepancy in Hindi versions of the question papers, and that the English meaning of a question was different in English.

The NTA had agreed to allow the apex court examine the alleged error in Hindi translation of the Physics question.

The NTA’s Solicitor General Tushar Mehta submitted that the question would be reexamined by a panel.An affidavit will also be filed in the matter, citing the conclusions of the panel.

Wajda Tabassum, along with other NEET candidates, filed the petition challenging the “discrepancy & patent error” in Section A (physics) question no 2.
