Kolkata 22nd August : In conjunction with the 25th anniversary of its student wings Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) on August 28, West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress is likely to fix 25 years as the maximum age limit for a person to be connected with the student body. When a student leader reaches the age of 25 he or she has the opportunity to enroll with the youth wings of the party. This is called Trinamool Youth Congress. The decision has been made because the current typical age of the leaders of the students in the organization is between 30 and 40 and is an obstacle for younger people to be able to join in the leadership ranks.
It was also brought to the attention of the leadership certain leaders with the intention of staying in the student-wing of the leadership were absconding from exams every year.”The leadership of the party wants to verify all of these issues and is looking at fixing 25 years as the maximum age limit for remaining with TMCP,” said an older leader of the party.
It is also possible to remove the student unions in various educational institutions from the influence of local officials, councillors, and MLAs from the party.
Based on the calculations of the party’s leadership students complete his or post-graduation at the age of 25 years of age, and therefore by this logic, the upper age limit to be associated with the student wing of the party is not more than 25 years old.
Indirectly acknowledging that these changes are in the near future, the TMCP’s state president in West Bengal, Trinankur Bhattacharya stated that they are planning to hold an enormous gathering on August 29, 2022.Any announcement that gives instructions to the students will be handed over to the party’s supreme leader and the West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee on the day.
“Our anniversary date for the year is August 28.However, since it falls on the Sunday we will be holding the event on August 29.The chief minister will address the rally and make necessary announcements. She is expected to also set the tone for students in anticipation of 2024’s Lok Sabha elections,” Bhattacharya stated.
He added that due to the nature of the pandemic situation the anniversary celebration was not possible to hold in the past two years.”So this year, our goal is to give the chief minister with a record number of people,” he said.
