Omicron-infected people are 50% to 70% less likely to require hospital treatment than those infected by other Covid-19 varieties, according to an analysisAccording to the BBC, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), although its initial findings were "encouraging", the variant could still result in large numbers of patients being admitted.

This Agencys most recent analysis was based upon all Omicron/Delta cases in the UK, beginning November.It also includes 132 patients admitted to hospital with this variant.

Within 28 days after being infected, 14 people died.According to Jenny Harries (Chairwoman of UKHSA), "Our most recent analysis suggests an encouraging early sign that patients who have contracted the Omicron variant might be at a relative lower risk of being hospitalized than those who have other variants.
