NZ Police and Defence Force required to be vaccinated

Wellington, Nov 26 : , The New Zealand Police have been named the new vaccine recipients in preparation for the transition into the new Covid-19 Protection Framework.
The first dose of the vaccine must be given to these workers by January 17, 2022 and the second dose by March 1, 2022.

This was stated Friday by Michael Wood, Workplace Relations and Safety Minister.

These groups are now added to the vaccination list, which also includes Managed Isolation & Quarantine (MIQ), border work, education, and prisons.

Wood stated in a statement that the vaccine requirements have been extended to include constabulary personnel, recruits, and authorized officers of New Zealand Police and the armed forces, civilian staff, and New Zealand Defense Force.

“Vaccine mandates can be very strong legal requirements and must be carefully considered based upon a clear assessment of how justifiable.” He added that businesses will have access to a simple vaccination assessment tool in mid-December to streamline the process.

Friday’s report from New Zealand included 173 new cases of Covid-19 Delta variants in the community.This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 7,832.

According to the Ministry of Health, 92% of eligible New Zealanders have received their first dose, and 82% are fully vaccinated.
