Not quitting Congress; BJP spreading canards: Pratapsingh Rane

Panaji, Dec 8, : Pratapsingh Rane, a former Chief Minister of Goa and veteran Congress leader, denied Wednesday any plans to quit the Congress and accused BJP of spreading misinformation against himRane was responding in kind to the contents of a speech by Devendra Fadnavis (former Maharashtra Chief Minister) who had suggested that Rane might quit the Congress to join the BJP.

Fadnavis made this comment during the formal induction ceremony for Ravi Naik, former chief minister and former Congress MLA, into the BJP "The news that I am quitting my party has been spread is a figment in imagination.These people are just trying to spread canards.

Rane stated in a video statement that he was not leaving his party "I have been a member of the Congress party for more than 45 years.I dont think I would ever consider leaving the Congress party at this point.

"I belong to the Indian National Congress, and thats all," the former Chief Minister added.Vishwajit Rane, Ranes younger son, is currently the Health Secretary in the BJP-led coalition.
