Bengaluru : , Nov 21, 2011 – Basavaraj Bommai, Chief Minister of Karnataka, stated Sunday that his government would not tolerate any corruption and added “there’s no question about shielding anybody if they are found guilty”.
Responding to media inquiries about the raid on Bangalore Development Authority’s (BDA), and corruption reports, the Chief Minister stated: “We will take action on the ACB report.The truth will be revealed.It is not possible to shield anyone involved in corruption.

According to the Chief Minister, he also acknowledged that he has received complaints about corruption in BDA from the public.

“S.R.Vishwanath who is also the chairman of BDA, had also brought my attention to this matter.Officials from the Urban Development department have been given instructions to investigate these complaints.We will pursue the guilty regardless of their influence.Bommai stated that the BDA must be cleaned up in order to deliver its services to the average man.”

Bommai, reacting to the chaos caused by heavy rains in Bengaluru, said that he has already been to affected areas HSR Layout and Rajarajeshwari Layout as well as Madiwala, Koramangala, Madiwala, and Rajarajeshwari Layout.

Bengaluru is a priority for the state government.”The state government has been instructed to immediately repair or assist in the affected areas.”

Bommai stated that rains had caused significant loss of crops and property in the south interior, north inner and coastal areas of the state over the last three days.

He said that survey results showed roads and bridges had been destroyed at numerous locations, as well as reports of deaths.

The Chief Minister assured that swift action would be taken to disburse compensation for affected farmers.He stated that about 3 lakh farmers had been affected by excessive rainfall in July, August, and September.They have been awarded the compensation.

Instructions were issued to disburse Rs 130 crore of the pending amount via Direct Benefit Transfer.

During the Video Conference on Saturday, the Deputy Commissioners from different districts were instructed to send survey reports about the losses.

Due to the continuous rains, some areas caused delays in the process.

He assured that he would meet with the officials to discuss the matter and then announce the compensation.
