Tokyo, Nov 29, : As electric vehicles continue to gain popularity amid rising petrol-diesel costs, Nissan, a Japanese automaker, announced Monday that it will invest $17.6 Billion (2 trillion Yen), in developing new EVs.
"We want to transform Nissan into a sustainable company that is truly valued by customers and society," stated Makoto Uchida (Nissan CEO).Nissan plans to continue developing its global operations and delivering electrified vehicles as well as technological innovations over the next ten years.
This vision supports Nissans goal of being carbon neutral throughout the product lifecycle by fiscal year 2050.Nissan plans to increase its electrification sales mix in major markets by 20 new EV- and ePOWER-equipped models over the next five year.
This includes Europe by more that 75% of sales, Japan, more than 55% of sales, China, more than 40% of sales, and the USA by 40% of EV sales in fiscal 2030.Ashwani Gupta, Nissan COO, stated that "with our new ambition, we continue the leadership in accelerating the natural transition to EVs through creating customer pull through an attractive proposition, driving excitement, enabling adoptation and creating a cleaner planet.
" The company also revealed three new concept cars, which represent the next stage in Nissans electrified future.They offer enhanced experiences through advanced technology packaging.
Nissan plans to launch EVs with its all-solid-state batteries, (ASB), by fiscal year 2028.A pilot plant in Yokohama will be ready by fiscal year 2024.
Nissan will be able expand its EV offerings across segments with the introduction of ASSB.This will allow for more dynamic performance.
ASSBs will make electric vehicles more accessible and efficient by reducing the charging time by one-third.The company also announced that ASSB will bring battery packs cost down to $75 per kWh by fiscal 2028.
It also plans to bring it down to $65 per per kWh in the future to achieve cost parity with gasoline and electric vehicles.Nissan plans to increase its global battery production to 52 GWh by fiscal 2026 and 130 GWh in fiscal 2030.na #Nissan.
