Thiruvananthapuram : , Nov 27, 2012 – Following the discovery of Omicron in South Africa’s Covid variant, Veena George, Kerala Health Minister, said that the state is considering quarantine for international passengers who arrive to the state. George spoke to media persons here and said that the Centre was in touch with the States and that extreme caution has been advised.
She added that the state will comply with the Centre’s directives.
“So far, everything is under control.
However, there are reports of a new variant.Therefore, it is important to strictly follow the Covid protocols, which include the use of sanitizers, masks, and social distancing.George stated that the Centre’s guidelines for quarantine are expected.He also said that we will be cautious about this aspect.
The new variant’s scare comes at a time when Kerala has been registering 50 percent of all new cases each day for the past few weeks and has a similar track record of having a high proportion of active cases.
