United Nations, Sep 13 : The President of the session 77 of the UN General Assembly, Csaba Korosi, has pledged to build bridges and make activities of the Assembly more impact-focused.
“We should continue to transform and reform the United Nations, including the General Assembly, and strengthen the trust that we have built through cooperation,” he told reporters on Monday, shortly after taking the oath of the president of the coming session of the General Assembly.
“My job is to create bridges and make the activities of the General Assembly more impact-oriented.I intend to work towards an integrated agenda of peace and security as well as human rights and sustainability.
These are three goals that are mutually supportive.We must all support each other, or they’ll each fall.” he said.
He stated that his goals will be to remain committed to the fundamental principle of the UN Charter to make significant and tangible progress in the sustainable transformation work at integrating systemic solutions that will increase the importance of science in making decisions, and boost the level of solidarity, Xinhua news agency reported.
“I would like to invite all stakeholders to collaborate and find common ground between members states and the stakeholders” declared Korosi.
“I will continue to collaborate with the Secretary-General and the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council and the other relevant UN institutions, and organize regular and impact-oriented consultations with youth, civil society institutions of science and knowledge centers, religious organisations, the private sector and the major financial institutions.”
The 77th session of the General Assembly begins on Tuesday.The slogan of Korosi’s presidency will be “Solutions through cooperation, sustainability and scientific research”.
