Experts warned 9 years ago about the unsafe landing at Karipur airport.
The devastating Air India Express Dubai-Kozhikode flight crashh at Karipur airport has left 18 fatalities and 127 severely injured till now.The accident reportedly took at 07:41 pm on August 7th due to bad weather conditions.According to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry, the plane had skidded off into 30 feet valley at the tabletop airport due to heavy rainfall.However, a member from the safety advisory committee had alerted nine years ago about such conditions and warned the occurrence of severe outcomes if not rectified.This happened after the Air India Express Flight 812 from Dubai to Mangalore crashed on landing at Mangalore in 2010.
He also made some suggestions regarding the buffering zone at which the recent accident has happened, but his warning was disregarded at that time.
Now, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered an investigation to get a clear picture of the incident.
If the reasons are the same, which are suggested by the member, then they should be rectified at least now to avoid further damage.Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has rushed to Karipur Airport and carrying on the rescue work.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got in touch with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the phone and assured all kind of help from Centre.
