“Need to educate next generation about food choices”

New Delhi, Nov 25, : Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr.Bharatipravin Pawar said Thursday that there is a need for education about food choices.

She said that balanced nutrition is an integral part to good health.The minister also stressed that citizens are equally responsible for food safety as the government and industry.

She praised the efforts of the organisation and industry partners to improve food safety in the country.She stated that globalization and consumerism have brought about a greater awareness of the ingredients in the food we eat "Mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers played a crucial role in the nutrition and food choices of our previous generation.

" She said that there is a pressing need for the next generation to be educated about food choices.Pawar also unveiled a book about the History of Food as well as a cookbook with curated recipes that use minimal salts.

The National Low Salt Cooking Challenge Report was also published.The Minister also visited the technical capabilities of Mobile Food Testing Vans, called "Food Safety on Wheels".

These vans are equipped to detect adulteration in submitted foods.FSSAI also published a number of innovative books and initiatives, including "History and Food", which traces the history of Indian food.

Her cookbook, Eat Right with Low Salt, which contains curated recipes that use minimal sodium, was also revealed by her along with the "National Low Salt Cooking Challenge Report." avr/pgh #educate #Delhi.
