‘Naya J&K” gears up for polls; no Pak stooges left preaching boycott; NC, PDP are no more front runners

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, had laid out a clear roadmap for the Himalayan region during his October visit to J&K.

He stated that delimitation would be followed by polls, and then statehood would again be restored.

The Centre established the Delimitation Commission for J&K, which was headed by Ranjana Prakash, a retired Supreme Court Judge, on March 6, 2020, pursuant to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

This act, which divided the former state into Union Territories (J&K and Ladakh), also known as the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

The ex-officio members are Desai, Sushil Chandra, Election Commissioner and K K Sharma, J&K State Election Commissioner.

The commission also has five associate members: National Conference MPs Farooq, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi and Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma from the BJP.

After the delimitation exercise is completed, some assembly seats will be reserved in J&K for the Scheduled Tribes. The number of assembly seats within Jammu and Kashmir will increase from 83 to 90.Twenty-four Assembly seats remain vacant because they are in Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir.

After completing the groundwork, the Commission held its first meeting in February with associate members. However, only Dr Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kirshore, BJP MPs, attended the meeting.

NC MPs Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mohammad Akbar Lone, however, refused to attend. They stated that the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act of 2019, which was “palpably unconstitutional”, and that until the Supreme Court determines the constitutional validity of the law, no decisions arising from it should be implemented.

After a reversal, NC leaders Abdul Raheem Rather and Mohammad Shafi Uri met the panel members in Srinagar, July this year. The NC associate members, i.e.The NC associate members i.e.

Despite the fact that the Peoples Democratic Party and the National Conference played politics over the issue the delimitation exercise is now in its final stages, and “Naya J&K” is gearing up to the assembly elections.

Pak faces another defeat

Pakistan will lose another election in the J&K UT Assembly.

After the repeal of Article 370, Pakistan had launched a vicious propaganda campaign about India turning J&K into a colony. But that narrative is now over.

After 1990, when the Pakistan-sponsored militancy broke out at J&K-stooges from the Valley made every effort to stop the elections.

They made it impossible for people to exercise their franchise due to the presence of guns. The J&K situation has changed over the past two years.

Separatism is gone and the separatists who used to issue boycott calls for elections have left the Valley. After a long time, the assembly elections will be open to Kashmiris without fear of militants and guns.
NC and PDP collapse

These parties, including National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party, which were the front runners until 2014, are no longer the front runners. After August 5, 2019, when the Centre announced that it would scrap J&K’s special status and divide it into two Union Territories, these parties have been struggling with a number of issues.

Both parties have fallen apart under their own weight. These parties have seen many leaders and grass-root workers leave. These parties’ top leaders have not been able keep their flock together.

Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister of J&K PDP, has apparently taken on the shoes separatists and is following their lead. She is questioning every move of Centre.Although the NC leadership is less vocal, they keep talking about Article 370 abrogation.

Omar Abdullah, former chief minister of J&K and NC vice president, vowed to fight for Article 370 until his last breath.

“We are not fighting to defend our homes and our homes, but we are fighting for you (the people of Jammu & Kashmir) and protecting your interests.

He stated that his fight was for the restoration and protection of our rights, which were taken from us on August 5, 2019.

Mehbooba and Omar are trying to sell old wine in new bottles.

They are using outdated slogans because everyone in J&K knows that Article 370, a temporary provision of the Indian Constitution, was scrapped in 2019.

Altaf Bukhari’s Apni Party and Sajad GaniLone’s Peoples Conference are both making an impact on the ground.

Many young people have joined these parties in the hope of being part of the change over the past months. These parties’ leaders are very clear about their goals.

They want the restoration of statehood and local politicians to handle J&K affairs.Bukhari and Lone seem not to be keen on the restoration of J&K’s special status.

They have stated many times that they don’t want any promises to be made.

Jammu: BJP in Jammu in Crisis

Jammu’s scales are tilted towards Bharatiya Janata Party, as the Congress is in turmoil due to infighting.Jammu people long for a new chief minister.

Jammu had only 37 seats in the Jammu Assembly, while Kashmir had 44.

Jammu-based leaders also claimed that J&K was a Muslim majority State. It should be ruled over by a Kashmiri Muslim, not a Dogra from Jammu.

Jammu and Kashmir will be given equal numbers of seats in the assembly after the delimitation exercise has been completed.

If Congress fails in Jammu to put its house in order, BJP could once again emerge as the largest party in the region.

BJP could project any of its native leaders as the next chief minister of J&K.BJP won 25 of the 37 regional assembly seats in 2014 elections.
