It is well known that Indian genealogists and astronauts are making inroads in space travel.Indians hold key positions in the US space agency (NASA) as well as several space agencies such as SpaceX, Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic.Recently another Indo-American astronaut landed at NASA.Anil Menon, a lieutenant in the U.S.Air Force and the first flight surgeon on SpaceX, has been named to the 10 – member astronaut team NASA will send to the moon.
Anil Menon was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota.Anil set up a medical institute with a view to future missions.He spent a year in India as a Rotary Ambassador Scholar to study the polio vaccine.Anil has also worked as a NASA crew flight surgeon for various missions to take astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).
Menon is recognized as an Emergency Medicine Physician.He was the first to respond to the earthquakes in Haiti in 2010 and Nepal in 2015.and the 2011 Renault Air Show accident.As for the Air Force, Anil Menon is the Flight Surgeon for the 45th Space Wing and the 173rd Fighter Wing.
He has logged in to over 100 sorties on the F15 fighter jet.Anil holds the track record of moving 100 patients while on the critical care air transport team.
Anil Menon is survived by his wife Anna Menon and two children.NASA Administrator Bill Nelson .The astronaut team announced itself.They are trained in five categories.
These include problem solving at the International Space Station, spacewalk training, development of complex robotic skills, safe operation of a T-38 lifting jet, and finally, training of Russian language skills.Anil Menon joins NASA Astronaut Team in January 2022 and begins training.
Of the more than 12,000 applicants for the NASA Moon Project in March 2020, six were men and four were women.They are likely to have space travel before and after becoming fully trained astronauts.
