JDU MLA: Narcotics are being used up in Bihar following strict liquor ban

Patna, Nov 29, : Monday’s claim by a MLA from Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal-United that the state’s use of narcoticsubstances has increased since the strict implementation and enforcement of the liquor ban by the state police was made.The MLA sought to have action taken in this regard.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which organized the Assembly session’s first day, hosted a meeting of its MLAs at the Central Hall.This was where strong implementation of the liquor ban was discussed.

Sanjeev Singh, JD-U, raised the issue about liquor ban during the meeting.He stated that while the initiative was very good for a healthy society, the state government should also consider other violations.

“People are now turning to narcotics like heroin, opium and heroine after the liquor ban.” Society has seen an increase in the use of narcotics.He said that youths are increasingly turning to cheaper drugs such as marijuana and smack In Bihar.

“The state police has been taking strict action against offenders.They regularly raid hotels and banquet halls.Police should also raid paan shops, tea stalls and roadside eateries in surprise raids.

Singh stated that these areas are easy access to narcotic substances.

After Singh’s suggestion, Chief Minister Nitish Karma, who presided over the meeting, stated: “We have taken cognisance of this matter and the state government will direct all 38 districts police to take preventive actions against the offenders.”

NDA members also condoled the deaths of liquor-related victims in several districts, including Muzaffarpur and Gopalganj, West Champaran and Samastipur, in the first and second weeks of November.
