San Francisco, Aug 17 : After announcing he was in the process of buying British football team Manchester United, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday denied the report and claimed it was an “long-running joke on Twitter”.When an individual on the micro-blogging site if he had any intention of purchasing the team, Musk replied: “No This is an ongoing comedy on Twitter.I’m not purchasing any teams for sports.”
In the past, when he was responding to users on other platforms, Musk mentioned he was buying Manchester United.However, it wasn’t immediately certain whether Musk was simply playing around or serious about the purchase.
The American Glazer family is the owner of the club, and purchased it for 790 million pounds in 2005.
The announcement was made while he was involved in an inflammatory tweet.
“To be explicit, I support the left portion of the Republican Party and the right portion of the Democratic Party!” he posted, prior to the US midterm elections in November.
Musk supporters have pleaded with for him to purchase Manchester United rather than Twitter in the past.
Manchester United Football Club, often referred to as Man United, or simply United is located in the Old Trafford area of Greater Manchester, England.
It’s one of the most well-supported football teams in the world.It has competitions with Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Leeds United.
