Mumbai, 23 Nov : , The Mumbai Cyber Police has busted an inter-state gang that allegedly sold fake life insurance policies online to prominent companies.They also cheated people of large amounts. A complaint filed by an aggrieved party states that during the lockdown period from June 2020 to March 2021, several people claiming to represent insurance companies called him and offered him attractive deals.
It is spread throughout Maharashtra and Telangana states, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Haryana, Haryana, and Delhi.
Bani Singh, Vijay Mehta from Bharti AXA Insurance and Deepak Dube and Sneha of PNB MetLife insurance are the accused.
The men sold the man an online policy, and sent him the documents via [email protected].
They claimed that they were authorized representatives for IRDA Hyderabad.
Further, the cheats lured him with promises of benefits worth Rs 71.87 crores.They also offered him an interest-free loan of Rs 12.lakhs and a lifelong pension.He was forced to put down Rs 18.98 lakhs.
The victim realized that the insurance agents had duped him and approached Mumbai Cyber Police North Region.They began investigating the matter.The scam was spread to at least five states: Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.It involved fake SIM cards that were used in order to obtain genuine customers’ KYC documents from mobile card sellers.
Cyber Police discovered that several of these accused are facing similar cases in Lucknow and UP.Further investigation is underway to determine if there was any connection between the gang and the sale of fake insurance policies online.
Six people have been arrested by the police to date.
Two accounts were closed at Kotak Mahindra Bank & ICICI Bank.They also seized five phones and several counterfeit SIM cards.
