Bhopal, Nov 25, : Madhya Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies minister Bisahulal S has sparked controversy by stating that “women of upper castes should not be dragged out of their homes to work in society”.
These remarks were made at an award function for women held in his Assembly constituency in Anuppur on Wednesday.

Singh addressed the crowd of men and women, saying that the women from Thakur and other upper-castes were kept in their homes and are not allowed to go out to work .”.

He said that women from lower castes work in the fields and their houses (the homes of upper castes).”Women of lower castes work outside, but women of the upper caste work inside and are not allowed outside.” Singh says that they should be taken out of their homes and allowed to work in the society.This is what he said in a viral video on social media.

However, the Minister stated that he does not intend to hurt any sentiments, but that the Opposition and media had “taken other” his words.

The minister stated that he was speaking to a group of people in his constituency who are familiar with one another and take jibes at one another.

“The viral video on social media only shows one line, not the entire speech.The only ones present were mostly locals, with some upper-caste women and men.I said it in response to one of the well-known ones, a district level party worker from an upper caste.The minister stated that we know each other and live together in society.Therefore, sometimes, it is hard to take dig at each other.”

Singh, an MLA hailing from Anuppur is considered to be one of the most prominent tribal leaders in Madhya Pradesh.

He was closely associated with Congress for many years and he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2018.
