MP Govt to Soon Introduce New Guidelines for Film Shooting

Bhopal, December 8, 2018 : .The Madhya Pradesh government prepared new guidelines for webseries and films shooting in the state.

These guidelines are expected to take effect in January 2022.
Sources claim that the new guidelines will require film makers and production houses to obtain prior permission from state government before they can start shooting at a specific location.

“New guidelines have already been developed taking into consideration various factors, including religious sentiments and more opportunities for local artists, and it would soon be announced after receiving approval from the home ministry,” said a official in the tourism department on Wednesday.

The state government’s tourism department has prepared the new guidelines.

According to an official familiar with the development, “The subject (film shooting), involves multiple departments of the state – tourism, home, and revenue.It would be implemented soon after getting consent by all departments.”

On Tuesday, Narottam Mishra, State Home Minister, told media that new guidelines in Madhya Pradesh will soon be in effect.Mishra stated Tuesday that production houses would need to obtain permission from the district collector at the location before shooting can begin.

After the controversial webseries ‘Ashram 3’, which starred Bobby Deol and was directed by Prakash Jha from Bollywood, there was a need for new guidelines for film and webseries production.Bajrang Dal, a right-wing group, had vandalized the set and attacked Praksh Jha and his crew.

Right-wing workers raised objections to the title of the webseries, Ashram.They claimed it hurts sentiments of the Hindu community.

After Jha changed the title, however, filming continued in Bhopal as well as other adjacent areas.Mishra stated that the government would prepare new guidelines for films shot in Madhya Pradesh.

On Monday, however, right-wing workers protested against the same at the opening ceremony for Khajuraho International Film Festival.

Govind Singh Rajput (State Tourism and Revenue Minister) spoke at KIFF on Tuesday.

He said that only films in which 70% of the artists are from Madhya Pradesh will be eligible for subsidy by the Madhya Pradesh government.
