MP CM to Visit School 2 Days After Violence Over Supposed Conversion

Bhopal, Dec 8, : Madhya Pradesh Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit Ganjbasoda, Vidisha district, on Wednesday.This is where a Christian missionary school was vandalised on Monday by righwing group -- Bajrang Dal.

A source told IANS that the chief minister will meet with the district officials during the Ganjbasoda visit to assess the situation.After the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights issued a notice to the District Administration to investigate the matter, the issue of eight students being converted came to light in October.The situation has gotten worse since then.

According to reports, right-wing workers met with Ganjbasoda residents the day before violence at St Joseph School.They distributed pamphlets with a message encouraging eight Hindu children to convert.

Right-wing workers entered St Joseph School and pelted stones.The ruckus lasted more than an hour.

However, students and school staff managed to escape unharmed.The school administration denies that Hindu children were converted.

St Joseph School was established 11 years ago.It is currently being managed by the Malabar Missionary Society, based in Bhopal.The school is home to approximately 1,500 students.
