Abu Dhabi, Nov 25, : Mohammad Amir, a former Pakistan fast bowler, has backed Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, Chairman of Dubai Cricket Council,’s offer to host bilateral cricket series between India & Pakistan in UAE.He said that it would be great for the sport. Due to political tensions, India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral series in Pakistan since 2013.Falaknaz, however, had offered to end the political deadlock between the two countries and suggested that the UAE could be the ideal neutral venue to host a series.
Amir now supports Falaknaz’s idea, but he believes the fate of the series will depend on the governments and boards in both countries.
“It’s a nice gesture, and we should be grateful to him.The third parties can’t do anything until the governments of the two countries meet to discuss their problems.It also depends on what the thought processes are of the cricket boards from both countries.The pacer stated that if all parties agree and if there is a bilateral series in Dubai between India and Pakistan, it would be great for the sport.” He spoke on the sidelines to Abu Dhabi’s T10 league.
The 29-year-old also praised Pakistan for their outstanding performance in the 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup.
“Our team went on to the World Cup after the New Zealand series was cancelled and the England series was cancelled.The contracts for coaches were one-to-two months.There was a change of management.
He said that it was a great achievement to perform in such a setting.
In the semifinal, Pakistan lost to Australia.
Matthew Wade was also dropped by Hasan Ali during that match.This proved costly for the team.
Ali was heavily trolled by social media after the semifinal match.
Amir responded to the trolls by saying, “Those who troll don’t have any cricket sense.” Every player has dropped catches at some point in their careers, and Hasan is a great fielder.We did not lose the match due to the dropped catch.This team cannot be trolled, you can only give credit for their performance.”
