Modi will inaugurate Kashi Vishiwanath Dham Monday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open Mondays first phase of the Kashi Vishith Dham corridor.

It was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 339 millionModi tweeted Sunday: "Tomorrow 13th December, is a landmark date.The Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham Project will be officially inaugurated at a Kashi special program.It will increase Kashis spiritual vibrancy.

"I urge everyone to participate in tomorrows program." Modi will visit Varanasi for a two-day stay on December 13.Modi will be visiting Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple for prayers, and then hell inaugurate Phase 1 of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham.The Prime Ministers Office (PMO), made a statement stating that it was his vision to help pilgrims and devotees to Baba Vishwanath who were forced to travel in congested areas and have poor surroundings when they tried to practice the ancient custom of taking a dip in the holy River, collecting Gangajal, and then offering it to the temple.

Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, which was created to make a pathway that connects Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple with the banks of River Ganga to realize this vision, was originally conceptualized.The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the project on March 8, 2019.

This was to kickstart this noble endeavor," the PMO stated.PMO noted that the Prime Minister was involved in all phases of the project.

The Prime Minister was present at all stages of the project, giving inputs to help improve it and making it easier for pilgrims.This project is designed for people who are disabled or elderly and provides easy access to ramps and escalators as well as other modern amenities.

According to the PMO, 23 buildings total will be opened in phase 1.These buildings will offer a range of services to pilgrims who visit Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple.The project included the purchase and acquisition of over 300 properties in the vicinity of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

These acquisitions were based on the principle that mutual negotiations took place based upon Prime Minister David Camerons vision of bringing everyone together.The PMO stated that the PMO achieved this goal by rehabilitating around 1400 tenants, shopkeepers and homeowners.

It claimed that the testimony of the success is the fact that there is no litigation pending in any court of the country regarding acquisitions or rehabilitation related to the development of the project."Prime Ministers vision was also to ensure that all heritage structures be preserved during the course of development of the project.

This foresight came handy when, during the process of destruction of the old properties, more than 40 ancient temples were rediscovered.These temples have been restored and beautified, while ensuring that there is no change in the original structure," the statement said.

The scale of the project was such that the project is now spread over a massive area of about 5 lakh square feet, whereas earlier premises were limited to just around 3,000 square feet.Despite the Covid pandemic, the work on the project has been completed as per the planned schedule.

During the visit to Varanasi, the Prime Minister will also visit Kaal Bhairav Temple on Monday afternoon and witness Ganga Aarti while on board a Ro-Ro Vessel in the evening.On December 14 at around 3.30 p.m., the Prime Minister will attend the 98th anniversary celebrations of Sadguru Sadafaldeo Vihangam Yog Sansthan at Swarved Mahamandir in Varanasi.During the 2-day visit, the Prime Minister will also participate in a conclave of Chief Ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, along with Deputy CMs from Bihar and Nagaland.

The conclave will provide an opportunity to share governance related best practices and is in line with the Prime Ministers vision of furthering team India spirit.ssb/pgh
