Modi proposes setting up a High-Power Police Technology Mission

Lucknow/New Delhi : , Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested Sunday the creation of a High-Power Police Technology Mission under the direction of the Union Home Ministry.
Modi addressed the 56th DGsP/IGsP Conference at Lucknow and called for the formation of the High-Power Police Technology Mission to implement future technology for grass roots policing.

He also suggested the development inter-operable technologies that would be beneficial for all police forces in the country.

As he spoke out about the role of technology in people’s lives, the Prime Minister used examples such as GeM, CoWIN and UPI.According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi, he also recommended positive uses of drone technology for people’s benefit.

He emphasized the need to review the SMART Police concept, which was introduced in 2014.

To address some routine problems faced by the police, he also suggested that highly-qualified youth be involved in hackathons to find technological solutions.

He was grateful for the positive shift in the police’s attitude toward the public after Covid.

Modi addressed the Conference’s valedictory session and called for an analysis of police-related incidents, as well as the development of case studies to institutionalize the learning process.

The Conference attracted 62 DGsP/IGsP from States/UTs as well as DGs CAPFs/CPOs to Lucknow.

The Conference was attended by more than 400 officers from different ranks, via virtual connections at IB offices throughout the country.The Conference was attended by the Prime Minister, who offered valuable advice and participated in discussions.

Various core groups of DGsP formed in the lead-up to this Conference.They were created for discussions about key national security issues such as prison reforms and terrorism.

Additionally, the Prime Minister presented the President’s Police Medal to IB staff for their distinguished service.According to the release, IPS officers representing different states submitted articles about contemporary security issues.

This was the first such submission, according to Prime Minister directives.

The Union Home Minister inaugurated the conference on Saturday.

He had presented trophies for the top three police stations in the country.

According to the release, the Home Minister was present at all discussions and provided valuable guidance and suggestions.
