According to OYO’s analysis of bookings, travelers are choosing short-haul destinations over planned trips and making last-minute reservations.Summer travel saw the greatest bounce back in demand across Europe.

The Labor Day long weekend, September 4 – 6, 2021 was the best time for Americans to travel.In India, the longest weekends of Gandhi Jayanti or Dussehra were the most popular holidays for travellers in 2021.

India is a land of many diversity.This means that India is home to many elaborate holidays and festivals.The second half of the year saw India host some of the most sought-after holidays.These included Janmashtami, which took place in August, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Dussehra, which saw an increase in bookings.

This optimism can be attributed to a higher level of vaccination coverage and the opening of more states for tourism, compared to early 2021.

Indian tourists preferred to spend their holidays in India’s beautiful tourist destinations like Jaipur, Goa and Visakhapatnam.

It is interesting to note that short-haul destinations are still the preferred choice for travellers who travel long weekends.Lonavala and Shimla are some of the most popular short-haul destinations.

These destinations are all close to major cities like Mumbai, Chennai and Chandigarh, Delhi, and Bangalore.This indicates that city dwellers are seeking refuge closer to home.

Dussehra weekend saw an increase in demand and an increase in trips to nearby destinations.Last-minute bookings are on the rise in India.

Indians love to travel to places that are full of festive cheer.Bookings spiked when there was a festival because people preferred to travel to places that are well-known for celebrating the event with great energy.

Locals prefer to travel short distances to places like Panchgani and Lonavala during Ganesh Chaturthi.The majority of bookings for Varanasi (Jaipur), Goa, Puri, Alibaug and Puri were made during Guru Nanak Jayanti’s most recent long weekend.
