San Francisco, Aug 6 : Tech giant Meta was formerly Facebook is currently trying out a live-streaming service for influencers, dubbed "Super" media reports claim.
The platform has payed influencers that range from $200 to $3,000 for 30 minutes of use on the platform, TechCrunch stated, using Business Insider.Super began development in the latter half of 2020.
It is being developed by Metas New Product Experimentation team.The report said that Meta recently approached a number of creators, asking them to test out the new program.
The new platform, which appears to have the same functionality as Twitch is currently being test-driven with less than 100 creators such as the tech-savvy Andru Edwards, as well as TikTok celebrity Vienna Skye.The platform is currently operating with a tiered model where users pay to access features in the live stream.
Viewers can leave a tip to live streamers.The report states that the creators take home 100 percent of the tips as well as profits generated through the tiered system "Super is an experimental, small-scale project that is being developed by New Product Experimentation (NPE) and currently being tested with only a handful of creators," a Meta spokesperson was quoted as saying in an email to TechCrunch.
Recently the platform announced that it will stop live shopping starting on October 1 and focus on short-form videos and Reels within its main app as well as Instagram.Users will be able to utilize Facebook Live to broadcast live events however, they wont have the ability to create playlists for products and tag items in their Facebook Live videos.vc/ .
