Taipei 18 August : Chip maker MediaTek on Thursday unveiled the 4nm T830 platform that will be used for fixed wireless access 5G routers as well as mobile hotspots, which supports speeds of up to 7Gbps over sub-6GHz networks. The chip is built with MediaTek’s M80 modem The new chip can let users enjoy ultra-fast internet services using a tiny device that they can install themselves and avoid the problems of long time-to-install for fixed broadband lines.
For device makers the T830’s designed, integrated design can provide significant power savings and helps reduce the time to develop and the cost of development the company stated in an announcement.
“MediaTek collaborates with Tier-1 operators across the globe to provide rapid reliable connectivity to businesses and consumers,” said JC Hsu, CVP and GM of MediaTek’s wireless communications business unit.
“This high-quality, integrated platform is the most recent advances in the areas of Wi-Fi connectivity and 5G.It allows our customers to build extremely high-performance multi-gigabit 5G CPE devices in the smallest size that are possible,” he added.
The primary system-on chip (SoC) also comes with an inbuilt Network Processing Unit (NPU) and Wi-Fi offloading engine to provide multi-gigabit speed routing between 5G cellular and Ethernet or Wi-Fi, with no CPU involvement, thus providing power efficiency and speed.
