Maoist killed in an encounter in Odisha

Bhubaneswar : Nov 28 : A senior cadre Maoist was killed in an encounter between security forces during an antiMoist operation within Odishas Bolangir region, DGP Abhay stated on Sunday.

He said that the Maoists fired first at security personnel, and then the security personnel retaliated.In the exchange of fire one Maoist identified as Shankar, a member of the Bolangir-Bargarh-Mahasamund division of the left-wing extremists, has been neutralized, the DGP said.

Abhay stated that six to eight Naxals were present in the area during the exchanges of fire.The spot was seized with arms, ammunition and incriminating Maoist material.The combing operation is still ongoing.

The DGP praised the participation of the police team in the combing operation.Although the State has seen a decline in Maoist activities, there is still a presence in Bolangir or Bargarh.

He said that adequate security personnel were deployed in these areas to combat the Maoist activities.bbm/skp #Maoist #Odisha.
